Biography

Timothy Planagan, also credited as Tim Planagan, wrote the original screenplay that Higgsfield turned into its AI feature The Cully Hill Boys, an action comedy set in East London about three underachieving rappers pulled into a drug war. Reports say he worked on the script for about five years and that it was a 2026 finalist for best feature screenplay at a London independent screenplay competition (36Kr says shortlisted). He uploaded drafts to the Black List submission service, where feedback shaped it, and Higgsfield bought the script there.

Planagan told Variety that other producers had offered WGA-rate pay but wanted the story made more generic, including moving it to the US, which he turned down. His Higgsfield deal, which he called on par with WGA rates although he is not a guild member, is limited to AI adaptations, and reports say he keeps the rights to a conventional production. He said he does not use these tools in his own writing, was honoured the script was chosen to show off Higgsfield's toolkit, and would let another of his stories be adapted this way.

Directed by Aitore Zholdaskali with Adilet Abish, the 110-minute film premiered in New York on 5 August 2026 and was released free online; when he spoke to Variety he had not yet seen it.
