Summary
Stelfie the Time Traveller is a fictional character: a bald, bearded traveller who takes selfies across history. He poses beside Vikings and medieval knights, with Albert Einstein, Vincent van Gogh, Charles Darwin and Nikola Tesla, in front of the Trojan Horse, and as far ahead as Mars, each image framed as his own snapshot from the trip.
The accounts say plainly what he is. His X bio calls him "a fictional AI character", his Instagram "a man who doesn't exist", and his Threads profile "a parody of life featured by an artist, photoshop and an AI". The artist behind him has not disclosed their identity, according to Bored Panda.
Development of the character began in October 2022, and his first appearance is dated 6 December 2022. Early in 2023 the series drew coverage from Bored Panda, Design You Trust and Metaverse Post, which presented it as an artist using generative AI to tell time-travel stories. He has since moved from still images to reels and YouTube videos, and his X bio describes the project as a push into visual storytelling and movies.
According to Bored Panda, the artist sketches each scene in Procreate, generates drafts with Stable Diffusion, then finishes the image by hand in Photoshop, adjusting the lighting, saturation and motion blur.
In October 2026 Stelfie had 25,187 Instagram followers, about 19,000 on X and 9,144 on Threads, with 120 YouTube subscribers and 68,173 channel views. His TikTok, at 72 followers, has been dormant since June 2025, while Instagram reels and YouTube videos have continued at about one a month.

Stelfie is open about what he is. Bored Panda, which interviewed the creator in February 2023, and Design You Trust and Metaverse Post all describe the images as made with Stable Diffusion.
There is a human behind the account, but not behind the face. The creator told Bored Panda that Stelfie is his alter ego and that he is 41 with black hair and a black beard, so he made Stelfie bald and shaved: the character is deliberately not him. He sketches each scene in Procreate, drafts it in Stable Diffusion, then paints over and retouches it in Photoshop. That is an artist directing generated images, not a person posing or performing as Stelfie, so the verdict is AI rather than hybrid.
What is still unknown: the artist has not disclosed his identity, and the claim that the face comes from a custom model trained on a Character Creator figure rests on a Digital Trends page the research could not read. Whether any recent videos use a human voice was not established.
