Biography
Ryan S. Jhun (Korean: 라이언 전), born Jhun Se-won on 28 February 1979, is a South Korean songwriter and record producer from Jinju. He moved to New York at the age of ten, where his musical interests developed. He once auditioned for SM Entertainment for the group that became Shinhwa, but parental discouragement derailed that path.
He sent demos to various labels and only SM Entertainment took his work. His first released song was "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" on Lee Hyori's 2010 album H-Logic, and his first hands-on production breakthrough was SHINee's "Lucifer". He is known for crossover styles with world-music elements and works regularly with producers such as LDN Noise and Dem Jointz.
He founded Marcan Entertainment and is CEO of Ateam Entertainment, where he produced VAV (2017) and BugAboo (2021). His portfolio spans EXO, NCT, Twice, Loona, aespa, IU and Monsta X, and he has contributed to Produce 101 and My Teenage Girl soundtracks.
He won Composer of the Year at the Circle Chart Music Awards in 2021 and 2022 and the Best Songwriter Award at the Melon Music Awards in 2023.
