Biography
Myrzakhan Zhumakhan (Russian: Мырзахан Жумахан) is a Kazakhstani filmmaker, reported to be 27 in October 2026. Press coverage describes him as a Kazakh filmmaker working in comedy; little else about his background has been published.
He wrote and directed the AI-generated short comedy "It Was Just a Joke" (Russian: "Это была просто шутка"). It follows a dog and its owner's brother: a harmless prank turns into a quarrel and then a full-scale, blockbuster-style war. One Kazakh outlet says he made the film himself with AI and in about a week and a half. The film's YouTube title credits Seedance 2.5. He has also been listed by the Curious Refuge gallery as director of the AI short "Gorn I", about an Ice Age hunter.
He said he did not aim for a deep message and that the film partly reflects his own love of pranks and fun, adding "I work in the comedy genre". The first Astana AI Film Festival (AAIFF), which drew 8,067 entries from 125 countries and ended on 3 October 2026, gave him its Best Character special-category prize, reported as $50,000. Reports say he plans to invest the money in his own development and new skills, and that a short AI horror film may be next.
