Ma Teng

Ma Teng is the director of The Reunion Journey (团圆令), a 2026 Chinese animated family adventure about two panda siblings. Chinese press describes him as a creator who has worked deeply in traditional animation, and says the film was the first time he led his team into full-process AIGC animated filmmaking.

People's Daily Overseas Edition credits him as the film's general director and quotes him calling the work "too hard, truly too hard", explaining that the AI methods used for short videos could not carry a 90-minute narrative film, so the team built its own control systems from scratch.

Global Times reports him saying that pandas are cultural symbols of China with appeal that crosses East and West, and that overcoming the "AI feel" was essential to theatrical quality. He said the team's core technology controls character performance, micro-expressions and interaction with 99 percent accuracy. In another interview he called AI an inevitable trend to embrace and the project a challenge from 0 to 1.
