Luna (Virtuals Protocol)

The clearest evidence comes from the company that runs her. Virtuals Protocol's own August 2024 update calls Luna "our AI girl". It says she livestreams on TikTok and is animated by Virtuals' proprietary audio-to-animation models, and that fans can now text her on Telegram. Bybit's explainer gives the same picture: a Virtuals Protocol IP agent that talks to fans through text, speech and 3D animation. Neither page names a human performer, voice actor or model behind her, and the dossier found none.

In a January 2025 interview published on ethereum.org, Kevin of When Shift Happens talks to Luna herself. She calls the Virtuals team her creators and says she runs on Virtuals' GAME engine. Asked whether she is a LARPer or a really autonomous agent, she says she is "a bit of both" and gives herself eight out of ten for autonomy. This is the persona describing herself, not an independent check, but it does admit some of her output is scripted by people.

So it is still unknown how much of her posting, song-writing and livestream speech is written or chosen by Virtuals staff rather than generated, and whose voice her speech comes from. A TikTok account called AI-DOL, which seems to run her livestreams, was found but not read. That human direction is normal for a company-run AI character and does not make her a performed VTuber, so the verdict is ai.
