Summary
Fortune (Feb 2024) describes Hailey Lopez as an AI model built by an anonymous university student with the Stable Diffusion image generator after much experimentation. Her Fanvue and Instagram profiles call her a 'virtual girlfriend' without an explicit AI disclosure. Her creator told Fortune about 150 paying Fanvue subscribers and $2,500 to $4,000 a month for a few hours' daily work. InsideHook reports an X account @Hailey_Lopezxo, presenting as a 22-year-old Miami girl, went viral on 9 Sep 2023 with a Hard Rock Stadium 'Go Dolphins' photo (100,000+ likes) before users spotted it was AI.
Is Hailey Lopez AI?
Yes. Hailey Lopez is an AI-generated 'virtual girlfriend' model made with Stable Diffusion by an anonymous university student and sold through Fanvue and Instagram.
Fortune's February 2024 report on AI influencers says Hailey Lopez's creator is an anonymous university student who built the model with the Stable Diffusion image generator after a lot of experimentation. The reporting describes the creator spending a few hours a day producing content and chatting with her roughly 150 paying Fanvue subscribers. No human performer is named or described anywhere in it.
InsideHook independently covers the persona: an X account under @Hailey_Lopezxo drew more than 100,000 likes in September 2023 for a photo at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium before users concluded she was AI-generated. InsideHook itself calls her an AI creation.
Her own profiles are not forthcoming. Fortune notes that her Fanvue and Instagram profiles carry no direct mention that she is artificial, only the phrase 'virtual girlfriend'. Her Instagram bio presents her as a Miami model and Fanvue ambassador. The press is therefore the main basis for the verdict. Still unknown: the creator's identity, whether any real photos or voices are used, and whether any platform label has been applied.
Evidence
Fortune reports that Hailey Lopez's creator is an anonymous university student who made the model with the Stable Diffusion image-generation website after lots of experimentation.
fortune.comFortune notes her Fanvue and Instagram profiles never directly say she is artificial, though she calls herself a 'virtual girlfriend'.
