About Garrett Borns
Garrett Clark Borns, born 7 January 1992, performs as Børns (stylised in capitals). He is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who grew up in Grand Haven, Michigan, and plays vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards and ukulele. As a child he performed at parties as a magician called "Garrett the Great", and at 13 he won a Gold Key Award in the National Scholastic Art Awards for his drawings. He studied at Interlochen's summer programme, and took piano and jazz classes at two Michigan community colleges.
He released his first album, A Dream Between, in 2012 on REZidual Records under the name Garrett Borns. After moving to Los Angeles in 2013 he co-wrote "10,000 Emerald Pools" with producer Jack Kennedy. It became his debut single on Interscope in November 2014 alongside the Candy EP, which peaked at number two on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.
His debut studio album Dopamine followed in October 2015 and reached number 24 on the US Billboard 200. Its single "Electric Love" went platinum, and its video passed 100 million views on YouTube. He supported Charli XCX, Bleachers and Halsey, played Lollapalooza in 2015 and Coachella in 2016, and released Blue Madonna in January 2018, which included "God Save Our Young Blood" with Lana Del Rey.
His music is described as glam rock and electropop, and the page notes his androgynous vocals and stage style, including a Gucci partnership. In September 2018 he was accused of sexual misconduct by several young women, a festival dropped him, and he went on indefinite hiatus. He returned with the Suddenly EP in July 2023 and the Honeybee EP in January 2025.
He is not an AI or virtual act: the page presents him as a real performer, with tours, television appearances and festival sets. Reach figures are not given beyond the 100 million-plus views for "Electric Love" and chart positions.
