Summary

Emily is a computer-generated virtual influencer, first seen on 26 November 2021 and said to be from Bangkok, Thailand. VirtualHumans.org describes her as the brand mascot of Wirtual, an NFT project that let users earn cryptocurrency for completing workouts, and lists her Instagram handle as @emily_wirtual. Thai outlet Marketing Oops called her a "virtual influencer" from WIRTUAL when she was used in February 2022 to promote the Wirtual x Under Armour Thailand NFT collection ahead of an airdrop on 28 February 2022.

Her Instagram, which has about 9,200 followers, mixes fitness-community posts (a January 2024 post about training with a HOKA Run Club) with paid brand posts for Thai insurer Heygoody and seasonal greetings; one 2024 reel says it was produced by Lumicore Studio. Her last post is from 30 June 2024. Wirtual's own X account announced a temporary closure of the Wirtual app in November 2024, and VirtualHumans.org now marks Emily as inactive or discontinued.

Is Emily AI?

Yes. Emily is a virtual influencer from Bangkok, the brand mascot of the Thai exercise-to-earn NFT app Wirtual, and no page names a real person behind her.

Two independent pages describe Emily as a virtual character. VirtualHumans.org, which tracks digital influencers, lists her as a virtual influencer first seen in November 2021 and says she is the brand mascot of Wirtual, a Thai NFT project that paid users cryptocurrency for completing workouts. In February 2022 the Thai marketing outlet Marketing Oops wrote that Under Armour Thailand was using "Emily", a fit virtual influencer from WIRTUAL, to promote its NFT collection on the app. Neither page mentions a model, actor or voice behind her, and nothing in the research contradicts them.

The evidence is thin, though. No page from Wirtual or anyone else says who designs or posts as Emily, or how her images are made. Her Instagram bio reads only "Emily | WIRTUAL" and does not call her AI or CGI, and the research found no AI label on her account. One 2024 ad reel credits Lumicore Studio as its producer, but that does not show the studio made her. VirtualHumans.org is a directory, not her operator, so its description is a strong lead rather than proof.

The answer is yes, she is a generated character rather than a person, with a caveat: who runs her is unknown. Her Instagram has been quiet since June 2024, and Wirtual said on X that it closed its app temporarily in November 2024.
