About ElGrandeToto
ElGrandeToto, also known as EGT or Toto, is a Moroccan rapper whose real name is Taha Fahssi. He was born on 3 August 1996 in Casablanca and grew up in the Benjdiya neighbourhood, where he practised krump dancing before turning fully to rap in 2016.
He broke through with the 2017 single "Pablo" and released the EP Illicit in 2018. His albums are Caméléon (2021), 27 (2023) and SALGOAT (2024), with a second SALGOAT volume listed for 2026. He is signed to BNJ City Block, with releases licensed to RCA Records through Sony Music France. His remix of CKay's "Love Nwantiti" was certified diamond in France.
He raps in Moroccan Darija, French, Spanish and English, moving between trap, Afrobeat and Marseille-style rap. The press has called him the chameleon of Moroccan rap and he names 2Pac as an influence. He has collaborated with CKay, Morad, Baby Gang and Tif, and judged the TV programme JamShow in 2024.
He was Morocco's most-streamed artist on Spotify for five years running (2021 to 2025), and Caméléon and 27 both opened among Spotify's top global album debuts. He won Best Hip-Hop/Rap Artist at the 2020 African Entertainment Awards USA and three Billboard Arabia Music Awards in 2024, and was named to Forbes' 2021 list of Arab music stars.
His career has included disputes. After his 2022 remarks defending cannabis use, a Casablanca court gave him an eight-month suspended sentence and a fine in January 2023, and he has since apologised for angry reactions to fans at concerts in Madrid and Bordeaux. In 2025 he opened for Lil Baby at Mawazine in Rabat.
