Biography

Blake Slatkin was born on 16 October 1997 in Los Angeles. He started on guitar at ten and played in local bands before turning to production, interning at 16 with the producer Benny Blanco and then moving to New York to attend NYU.

At NYU he worked as producer and songwriter with Gracie Abrams and Omar Apollo, and was executive producer on their debut projects. After leaving he returned to Los Angeles to produce full time. In 2020 he worked with The Kid Laroi, Lil Nas X, Omer Fedi and 24kGoldn, and produced 24kGoldn's "Mood", which spent eight weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

He has produced seven Hot 100 top-ten singles, four of them number ones, including The Kid Laroi's "Without You" and "Stay" with Justin Bieber, Lizzo's "About Damn Time" and "Unholy" by Sam Smith and Kim Petras. His collaborators also include SZA and Ed Sheeran.

At the 65th Grammy Awards in 2023 he won Record of the Year for "About Damn Time", plus Best Remixed Recording and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Unholy". He was on Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2022 and Variety's Hitmakers of the Year in 2021, and his work on "Mood" was honored at the 2022 BMI Pop Awards.
