Biography

Bing He (冰河) is a Chinese fiction writer who says he has published a dozen long-form novels in China. By his own account, none of his fiction had been adapted for television or film before he turned to generative AI as a way to bring his writing to the screen.

He directed The Wolves, also billed as Wolf Pack, a feature-length film that had its global premiere at the inaugural Silicon Valley AI Film Festival in San Jose on 10-11 January 2026. Set on the grasslands of Inner Mongolia, it follows a chase turned violent as policemen and vigilantes hunt child traffickers. One festival write-up describes it as the world's first feature-length AI film independently completed by a single creator.

Bing He told the Stanford Daily that chatbots such as DeepSeek and ChatGPT write very well, but that he never uses them to write scripts or even sentences of his fiction, because he fears he would lose his ability to write and his soul. Generative AI, for him, is an alternative route for turning written stories into moving images rather than a replacement for the writing.
