About Amy Allen
Amy Rose Allen is an American songwriter, record producer and singer, born on January 31, 1992, and raised in Windham, Maine. As a child she played bass in her sister's band, and as a teenager she performed folk and bluegrass at local venues. She graduated from Waynflete School in 2010, then attended Boston College and earned her degree at Berklee College of Music, where she studied under producer Kara DioGuardi.
In 2015 she released two solo EPs, was featured in Teen Vogue and formed the indie pop group Amy & The Engine. In 2018 she co-wrote Selena Gomez's "Back to You" and Halsey's No. 1 "Without Me". Variety named her a Hitmaker in 2019 and 2020, she signed to Warner Records in 2019, and Forbes put her on its 30 Under 30 in Music list in 2020.
Her credits include songs for Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, Tate McRae, Justin Bieber and Sabrina Carpenter, for whom she co-wrote all twelve tracks of Short n' Sweet, including "Please Please Please". She leans toward darker, more serious writing and names The Cranberries, The Cure, Alanis Morissette and Sheryl Crow among her influences, and she works collaboratively with producers such as Jack Antonoff and Scott Harris.
She won Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammys as a writer on Harry's House, and in 2025 became the first woman to win Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical, winning it again in 2026. In 2024 she had 13 credits on the Billboard Hot 100 and released her debut album Amy Allen. A September 2024 New York Times profile described her as pop's secret weapon.
