About Alex Trimble

Alex Trimble is the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and multi-instrumentalist of Two Door Cinema Club, a Northern Irish rock band formed in Bangor, County Down, in 2007. He shares songwriting and instrumental duties with Sam Halliday and Kevin Baird.

He met Halliday at Bangor Grammar School and the pair later met bassist Baird through friends. At sixteen the three entered the competition ATL Rock School as Life Without Rory and finished last.

The band's 2010 debut Tourist History was nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year, and its 2012 follow-up Beacon reached number one in Ireland and number two in the UK. "What You Know" gained wide notice after a 2011 appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The band has made five studio albums.

In July 2012 he took part in the London Olympics opening ceremony, performing "Caliban's Dream", composed by Underworld's Rick Smith at Danny Boyle's request. He co-wrote Ariel Pink's 2023 song "Rudolph's Laptop" with Winston Marshall. In May 2022 he missed the band's Brazil dates because of vaccination entry rules and medical reasons, and David Clements sang in his place.
