YouTube has deleted or hidden the videos of at least 18 channels that pumped out AI slop, according to tracking by the editing-software firm Kapwing. They include a Dragon Ball-themed channel with more than 1.2 billion views and a religious AI channel that had reached Tubefilter's global top 50.
The move follows a 2025 pledge, made under pressure from advertisers and after studios were drawn in, to demonetise repetitive and unoriginal videos. CEO Neal Mohan repeated it in his 2026 letter, saying YouTube would extend its anti-spam systems to low-quality AI content.
Before 2025, such channels were mostly banned only for plain rule-breaking. Plenty, such as Riki TV and Rbrain Project, still sit in the top 50, and the same letter promised more AI creation tools, so Tubefilter doubts YouTube can keep pace while Google's Veo makes such videos easier to produce.
