Kids' studio WildBrain has acquired Personality AI, a 2025 start-up that builds conversational AI versions of entertainment characters. Its best-known product is Hey Peppa Pig on Amazon Kids+, made with Hasbro, where children talk with Peppa through games.
WildBrain is paying roughly $11 million in cash and a million of its shares, another $2 million after a year, and up to $56 million more if revenue targets are hit from 2027 to 2029. Founder John Goscha joins its leadership as an executive vice president.
WildBrain says the technology fits its production, franchise and licensing arms, including its CPLG agency, and plans to build interactive experiences around its own and partner brands, and stresses safety: COPPA Safe Harbor certification, moderation, time limits, and no stored voice recordings or personal data.
It follows criticism earlier this year over AI-assisted restorations of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! that aired with warped visuals, and the sale of its last Peanuts stake to Sony, which cleared its debt and left it saying it could put $50 million to $100 million into new growth.
