Bonito, bonito, a cheerful song that spread across TikTok in September complete with its own dance, is credited to Thiago Navarro, a singer who does not exist. El Colombiano reports that both the track and the performer were made with AI by Venezuelan content creator Anier Cruz, and Navarro's Instagram describes him as a digital artist.
The song came out in early August. Its formula is simple: a bright rhythm, lines that stick after one listen, and lyrics that praise small daily comforts such as a coffee, a smile, a hug or a walk. Venezuelan singer Carlos Baute was among the well-known names who shared it, and Univision's Despierta América picked it up too. It is Navarro's second viral track, after the more romantic Quédate con lo sencillo.
In a video posted on 19 September, Cruz said he never expected the song to travel so far or to receive so many messages from people describing how it made them feel. He said he wanted it to feel like a shot of happiness, or the small coffee many people drink in the morning, and tried several versions before settling on the one now in circulation. Some listeners were surprised to learn the whole thing was machine-made. Speaking to Univision, Cruz said people will use whatever tool is at hand to amplify what they feel, and that his only aim was to spread good feeling.
He also said AI will not replace human singers, who will always sound warmer, but that it helps someone with an idea get it made quickly.
