Utopai Studios and China's Huace Film & TV agreed to co-produce Journey to the West: The Lost Five Hundred Years, an animated series made entirely with AI and based on the Chinese literary classic.
It will be generated on Pai, Utopai's in-house storytelling system, with Huace running production and Utopai holding distribution rights outside China. It is the first major project from a partnership in which Huace adopted Pai for long-form work.
The first season is aimed at broadcast, streaming and digital platforms, and the partners pitch it as the base of a franchise with cinema releases later.
