Suno's v6, built with Warner, BMG and Believe and promoted as faster, more expressive and higher quality, has landed badly with the people who pay for it. On the company's subreddit, longtime subscribers describe the output as muffled, dull and lifeless, with buried vocals, a missing top end and generic, compressed mixes.
The sting is the comparison with the previous generation. One user who released two albums on v5.5 says the same prompts now produce soulless results. Those older models were retired on launch day under label pressure, and some users want them back.
Digital Music News points to the likely cause: a far smaller, licensed-only training set. The industry welcomes that shift; whether Suno keeps its audience while rebuilding quality on the narrower base is the open question.
