Suno is hiring a Director of Accounting whose brief includes preparing the company for a stock market listing, Music Business Worldwide reported on 15 July after finding the ad. The San Francisco role, paying a base of $210,000 to $260,000, would take Suno through its first audited financial statements and put in place the controls a public company needs.
The hire would be one of the first on an accounting team Suno says it is building from nothing, acting as right hand to controller Jake McNeill, who joined five months earlier from Crunchyroll, where he was global controller. Suno calls it a builder's role that works with finance planning, people, legal and the wider business, and even asks candidates for a measured approach to AI and ideas for AI-driven automation of the books. The listing asks for a CPA, eight to ten years of experience and deep US GAAP knowledge, and counts IPO, SOX and royalty accounting among the extras. A strategic finance manager being recruited alongside it would help with investor materials, board reporting and fundraising.
The ad came a month after Suno raised more than $400 million at a $5.4 billion valuation, over twice its level seven months before. It has about 200 staff, plans to add up to 70% more by year end according to Bloomberg, and in February claimed 2 million paying subscribers and $300 million in annual recurring revenue. It has also been hiring music-industry veterans from YouTube and Atlantic Records, joining chief music officer Paul Sinclair, ex-Warner, and chief commercial officer Jeremy Sirota, ex-Merlin, and product chief Jack Brody has floated a developer API as a step toward partner-built products.
The legal picture is unsettled. Warner Music settled its suit in November 2025 with a partnership deal, but Universal and Sony are still litigating, as are the collecting societies Koda and GEMA, and independent artists have filed a proposed class action. MBW founder Tim Ingham has repeatedly said he believes Warner took a stake in Suno as part of its deal. MBW said it had asked Suno for comment.
