SubmitHub, the service musicians pay to pitch songs to playlisters and bloggers, will no longer accept AI-generated music. Founder Jason Grishkoff tied the decision to Spotify's move to keep AI personas out of recommendations: if the algorithm won't surface a track, SubmitHub would be selling promotion it cannot deliver.
Enforcement runs through SH Labs, the company's own detector, said to be 99.4 percent accurate in outside tests. There is no appeal, and writing your own lyrics does not exempt a recording that crosses the threshold. About 11 percent of recent uploads scored above 85 percent.
Grishkoff went beyond commercial logic, calling a machine-generated future terrifying. The reversal is striking because neither SubmitHub nor Spotify objected much to AI music early on.
