Starting Pixel, a community for virtual-production crews, is adding AI to the programme of its annual London event this year. Starting Pixel Live 2026 runs on 14 October at Rich Mix in Bethnal Green under the theme "The Human in the Loop", Digital Production reports.

The fourth edition spreads across two stages. AI sits alongside the event's usual ground: previs, virtual art departments, digital humans, location capture and look development. The Demo Jam and the student showcase return, and organisers say they will favour live demos over panel talk.

Founder Rob Chandler says AI is already speeding up early experiments and previs. People are still needed on set, he argues, for lighting a volume, blocking scenes and spotting a shot that has gone wrong.

The outlet notes that AI could enter almost any step of a virtual-production pipeline. The time saved may be smaller than it looks when a generated concept has to be rebuilt, while dull automation that keeps a scene's structure intact may save more. The day runs 09:00 to 17:30; tickets are £99, or £49 for students, plus a booking fee.
