Pete Davidson, who stars with Casey Affleck and Gal Gadot in Doug Liman's Bitcoin, told Variety that the production used AI to handle a story that jumps from Iceland to Bangkok, ComingSoon reported on 30 September. Shooting every setting for real, with cast and crew flying from one country to the next, would have meant a movie on the scale of $250 million, he said, and AI let them keep that scope for a smaller sum.

He stressed the film still had a full crew and extras, that the technology was used mostly for locations, and that none of the actors' performances were generated or changed, which is why he was comfortable with how Liman, whom he called a bucket-list director, used it.

Davidson also said deepfakes frighten him because he does not really understand them, while accepting that AI is going to become part of the entertainment business either way.
