Paramount has named Barak Turovsky executive vice president of consumer AI. He will grow the company's AI and machine learning teams and apply them to recommendations, discovery, engagement and revenue on Paramount+ and Pluto TV, reporting through chief product officer Dane Glasgow.

Turovsky arrives from General Motors, where he was chief AI officer, after roles at Cisco and the vision start-up Trax and more than ten years at Google leading its language AI work across Search, YouTube and Translate.

The hire fits David Ellison's plan to make Paramount a technology-led studio ahead of its Warner Bros. Discovery deal. The streamers are moving onto one backend, and executives have floated AI-generated artwork among new features.
