Lunacy Audio has opened Nova, a library of virtual instruments that works in a browser and inside a DAW. The company says the next stage will let musicians put together their own plugins with AI prompts instead of code. RouteNote reported the plan on 30 September, drawing partly on earlier coverage in The Verge.

Nova went live on 17 September with ten instruments, a mix of free and paid sounds covering lo-fi textures, classic synths, sampled instruments and ambient beds. Some premium packs are made with artists such as Virtual Riot and Rainbow Circuit. A free host plugin loads the whole library in a DAW, and any instrument can be tried in a browser first. For now Nova is mainly one place to find and play instruments without installing and managing each plugin on its own, and Lunacy says more sounds and presets will keep arriving.

The part still to come is Nova Builder. It is meant to combine ready-made effect blocks with text prompts to produce instruments and effects, let users rework what others have built, and later share, remix and sell the results in a Nova marketplace. Chief executive Casey Kolb describes a chain where one creator starts a tool and others keep extending it. Lunacy's own site still lists these features as coming soon.

RouteNote sees AI shaping the tools here rather than writing the songs, which could open plugin design to producers who cannot program a VST. Marketplace terms and how widely the builder will be released have not been announced.
