Lorde has criticised Spotify's AI-driven "About the Song" feature after it gave a wrong account of what one of her songs means. In an Instagram story she said listeners do not want it, and that pinning a machine-written meaning to a track as it plays narrows how people hear it.
She asked Spotify at least to let artists opt out. A Spotify spokesperson said the text she flagged has been removed.
Her complaint joins a run of artist pushback on AI in music, including SZA's recent attack on Suno.
