Lionsgate has widened its tie-up with Runway, taking a stake in the AI video company and setting up a joint programme to develop new projects. The first releases will be short episodic series made with AI from existing Lionsgate properties, though the titles have not been named.
The studio framed the deal as part of an AI strategy led by its chief AI officer, Kathleen Grace, and will also present Runway's AI Film Festival in June. No release timetable was given.
Lionsgate was the first major studio to sign with an AI firm when it partnered with Runway in 2024, a deal TheWrap has reported hit limits when it came to generating films.
