South Korean format agency Something Special is adding a generative AI element to the second season of Unforgettable Duet, an eight-part singing series about people living with dementia, and will show it to international buyers at Mipcom.

In each episode a professional singer takes a person with dementia and a relative back through their memories. The pair then sing a duet, and the singer closes with a tribute song drawn from the patient's story. Season two starts on MBN at the end of October.

The new segment, Reminiscence Memory, feeds photographs, images and interviews supplied by participants into an AI model, which then generates personalised pictures based on their recollections. Something Special calls it a non-drug approach to memory-trigger therapy, meant to prompt recall and emotional connection with familiar scenes.

The agency's Mipcom slate also carries a second dementia format, Suspicious Guesthouse: Unforgettable Trip, plus several singing and reality series.
