The Motion Picture Association and ByteDance have signed a memorandum of understanding on protecting film and TV intellectual property in TikTok's parent company's generative tools, including the Seedance video model and Seedream image model.
It follows a cease-and-desist the MPA sent after Seedance 2.0 users made clips starring likenesses of actors such as Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. The two sides then worked on safeguards reportedly built into Seedance 2.5 and Seedream 5.0 Pro, now available in TikTok, CapCut and Dreamina.
Charles Rivkin of the MPA and ByteDance's general counsel both describe the agreement as a basis for continued work on the guardrails.
