Elon Musk announced on X that xAI's video generator Grok Imagine will produce a feature-length film of Homer's Odyssey before the year is out, promising a version he called historically accurate. He gave no details on who would make it or how.
The post came as he reshared a user's Grok-made scene from the poem. In a separate reply he said he was open to a fan's idea of paying Mel Gibson $100 million for a live-action take with period ships and armour and dialogue in ancient Greek.
The pledge follows months of Musk attacking Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, chiefly over casting, including Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy. Nolan's film, starring Matt Damon, opened to $264 million worldwide and strong reviews, TheWrap notes.
