Beatport has confirmed that it will not accept music made entirely or mostly by AI, and it can remove content it suspects qualifies. It has also expanded its 2024 anti-fraud deal with Vancouver's Beatdapp to identify AI-generated music across its whole catalogue.
Tracks made with AI assistance stay allowed if they are mostly human work, and tools for mixing, mastering and stem separation are explicitly fine. The platform admits both its line and the definition of majority human-created will change over time.
Beatport says only 8% of its users are open to playing AI music. Digital Music News expects the AI labelling spreading across Deezer, Spotify and others to end with listeners being able to filter AI music out.
