Beijing Shrub Culture and Technology Co, Ltd
A Beijing animation and IP studio, registered in the capital's Shijingshan district, that makes animated films and series, picture books and cultural-tourism merchandise, and builds its own AI animation production platform.
Its website says Shrub was founded in 2012 and took strategic investment from Alibaba in 2017; a Beijing Daily report dates the company itself to 2017. The site says it develops a full-process AI animation platform that combines cognitive computing, deep learning and intelligent control, and uses its own large model for concept, character, scene and animation design. Its listed work includes Cat Journey East (猫行东方), The Little Fox Taotao and the Old Immortal, Octonauts in China, the aerospace IP Hang Xiaomeng, and visual-effects segments for CCTV's 2026 Spring Festival Gala.
Shrub is a co-producer of The Reunion Journey (团圆令), billed as China's first full-process AIGC animated feature for cinemas, released in mainland China on 28 February 2026 with China Media Group and New Film Association. Global Times quotes its chairman Li Guanyu as saying AI is a tool for artistic expression. Reports say the team's platform cut production to five or six months, about a fifth of the cost of a conventional animated film. Those figures are the producers' own claims.
